No. It is true to some extent that we are paying more taxes.
Take my case for an example. My kid is not an American citizen. She moved with us when she was a baby and currently under H-4 status. So she could not obtain social security number that is good for "authorized to work". Without the SSN, we were not eligible for certain child tax credit, which was hundreds of dollars. I tried an ITIN but I got a formal response from IRS that the child still needs to have a SSN to be eligible for the credit.
If you ever filed your tax return yourself and have a kid, you will know what I mean.

Can you shed some light on this process? Do "Immigration Litigation" Attorneys be able to help in this?
This person had been posting on Murthy forum and he did get responses from Attorneys that "mandamus" is the way to go.
What is Mandamus and what is difference between what you suggest?

I agree looks like CIS is getting its act together. but with such a big jump in dates. We will see random approvals like May 2006 before July 2004 etc.
Is this big jump for EB2 due to overflow from other categories? Is this as a result of awareness around visa wastage?

Pappu, then why no to plan for another letter campaign, if that is what making things work a little bit.
It will work only if we can have 10s of thousands of letters.
If admin fixes had so many letters we would have been in a better spot today. With only 5 thousand or something letters and many of them anonymous, we cannot have our hopes very high.
Unless people suffering take the initiative, our initiatives will have a hard time getting results. IV is every member here (and not just core members or chapter leaders) and if members feel the heat of retrogression, they need to take the initiative and get active.
Hope this bulletin will help people focus on action items.

My I-140 was applied in May 2007 but I never got the approval until recently. My company opened a service request 30 days ago and I got the approval on Dec 12th. Service request helped in my case.

15 years and 2 months. Arrived in US in June 1995. Includes 6 years on J1 and 9 years on H1. Been thru all possible problems-employer closing shop in the middle of waiver, scrambling to find another waiver position, labor stuck in back log , lost priority date, new PERM and labor from 2006 and then applied 485 in july 2007 .

Guys as it states both you and your spouse need to have an SSN not ITIN.
So if one has ssn other has ITIN you are not qualified.
The stimulus package is $600 for each member who has an SSN. Therefore if both you and your wife had an SSN you would get $1200. In the case where one spouse has an ITIN, the remaining spouse still is eligible for the $600. As mentioned in this post earlier you can always file 1040X one you receive the SSN for your spouse and claim the additional $600.
