Y have contry quotas, let it be all merit based.
You want me to believe that there is no discrimination, I laugh at that thought, u r just fooling urself, it's part of this country, it's part of their culture, not that India is any better, but u can't ignore the fact that there is very active discrimination in this country.

You are correct, existing law is not fair but we have no say in this. If and when CIR is passed, this can be repelled or at least relaxed. So instead of wasting energy on these, lets meet lawmakers and educate and push for a CIR that works for everyone. Again don't start another blabbering that CIR is only for illegals etc. It is the only way out at this point or be my guest and wait eternity extending EAD/AP.
Another Example:
Let us say, Employer XYZ has 3 employees on H-1B. Its upto Employer's choice to file green card for any or all of them. Employer may decide to sponsor employment based green card for only 1 of them.
If employer decides to sponsor green card for only 1 of the H-1B worker, can other 2 H-1B workers claim right to get sponsored based on Equal Opportunity Law? The answer is No, since it is perfectly ok and does not come under employment based discremination.
People here are mixing 2 different laws without knowing law's applicability limitations.

factoryman, looks like chlei or whatever has wrong information. i guess he/she is presuming "Schedule A applicants are entitled to up to 50,000 �recaptured� numbers." even now.
chlei or whatever, that is not true. those 50000 expired jan 2007 or sometime around and i agree with factoryman that we must stop them from geting our unused visas again this year. i have written to some senators listed on HLG blog

Hi guys,
This is what my lawyer said.
If you/spouse have used your EAD or are using your EAD then your "Current Immigration Status" is "Adjustment of Status Pending/Parolee". If not then it is either H1B or H4.
If you/spouse have actually travlled outside the US and re-entered using the Advanced parole, then your "Manner of Last Entry" is "Parolee". If not then it is what it says on your I-94 (H1B or H4).
You do **NOT** need the $80 Biometric fee for the Advanced Parole.

do any body know what documents a minor need for reentry using AP?
Do they need EAD or just I-485 receipt is enough. please reply ASAP.

So far things are looking good, but I have been instructed to not discuss any specifics until the lawyers have reviewed all the information. I should know more next week. I also received a call yesterday from a congressional office, but I was unavailable to take the call. We'll see what happens.

After giving all b..t answers she was asking me Do you need any other help sir? And I was like.. Ya... Just b..t down and I will show you what USCIS just did on July 2nd to us. We still can not sit properly :)
OMG ahahahah:D I once asked one of them if she ever got tired of having to say alll that stuff they say when they first pick up the line. "thank you for calling blah blah in order to blah blah we may need to ask you blah blah blah" and 5 minutes later they ask you like, 4 questions. She said no, she likes her job. I'd say that too if I knew there was a chance the conversation was recorded, as their phone messages say. Now I just interrupt and go "You're welcome, and NO, not in the military, YES it's about an i485 application, NO it's not about an appointment, YES I have a question.

In fact I had the same thought! I did talk to a number of fellow participants on Sep 18th rally. Everybody seemed to welcome the idea!
Come on guys, think over it...
Which of the following news will attract the attention of the congress more?
About 1000 Legal immigrants rally in Washington DC!
Or
Thousands and thousands of legal immigrants rally all over the country!
It is very obvious that the total number of participants (put together) will be much higher in local rallies. For instance, I was the only one in the Sep 18th rally from my family. If it was local, all the four of my family would have been there! I am sure that this is the case with most of us!!
Sep 18th was a golden day in our strong movement! We learnt a lot from the dedicated organizers. Many of the participants (including myself) have gained practical experience about what is involved in organizing a rally. Let us build up on this experience to organize multiple but simultaneous rallies in different parts of the country (in almost all the state capitals and big cities).
I have a lot to share.... but can't do it more during my office time.
Shall come back to you during the week end.
Meanwhile, I would love to hear from others about this concept!!

Kartik, as long as we, the EB3 do not come forward and collect huge amount for lobbying, we will continue to lurk here for many more years.
Unfortunately the sad part is, whatever lobbying is done actually helped only EB2 I, may be due to a wrong notion by USCIS that all Hi-tech immigrants are EB2. This could be a fact as there are thousands of 245 cases that fell into EB3.
Another bad thing was that USCIS release this VB yesterday which means one extra day to CRY.
I do not blame any one, but ourselves. We do not want to spend money and hence dying in this process. No solution, but cry at every VB day.

I think we could have used some popular tactics to ensure larger attendance in the rally. If the core knew that people like Sheela Murthy and Greg Siskind would be joining the rallly, they should have let everybody know in advance. some people would have attended just to see those big names in person.
I know it's all about ideology and you can say we don't need people who don't want to come for the cause, but looking at what other anti-immigration groups are resorting to, it wouldn't have been a bad idea.

the writer's of this bill have said that any amedment that removes the merit system is a deal breaker. So far at least from whatever info is out there seems there is nothing for employment based category. Don't know if something is going on behind closed doors...
