Are they going to redo the amendment process in S.1639 for the already agreed amendment through S.1348?
One change I noticed.
Now people can continue in the old system if the I-140 was approved or pending before the first day of the fiscal year subsequent to the the bill being enacted. So if the bill is passed right away, you need to have filed your I-140 before Oct 1 2007.

Here is the status update from HLG website. Note the date. Anybody here at IV, agree with me, if it needs to be countered by a direct web fax to Congress.
2/12/2007 IMMIGRATION ALERT:
ADVOCACY ALERT: RETROGRESSION: WE'RE GETTING CLOSE
HLG has confirmed that the Senate leadership is comfortable with a proposal to solve retrogression for Schedule A occupation -- registered nurses and physical therapists. It was through grassroots advocacy that we were able to explain to the Senate leadership just how important this issue is. Thank you to everyone who made an effort.
We now must turn our efforts toward the House.
If anyone works with or at any hospitals in the following Representatives' districts, please contact Chris Musillo (cmusillo@hammondlawfirm.com; 513-381-2011 x223) ASAP.
Rep. Lofgren (D - CA) : 16th District - San Jose
Rep. Eshoo (D- CA) : 14th District - San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Cruz
Rep. Pelosi (D - CA) : 8th District - San Francisco and north
Essentially anyone who is located in the Bay Area and wants to see retrogression solved should contact their hospital leadership and see if they are willing to make a few phone calls and sign onto a letter. If they are willing to do that, please let Chris know ASAP. Chris can then explain exactly what needs to be done.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
We're getting close.

Does the new CIR Bill invalidate AC21...if yes then will it affect people who already have EAD before enactment of the bill.

Only option left for us is making 750k and invest in business in US, You get green card . Otherwise go bakc to india.
Yes if you are born in India, then US skilled immigration is closed for EB2/3...its over..finished. I realized this in 2005 itself and started preparing, applied for Canada
PR in 2006. Took GMAT and applied for MBA. I only applied for Canadian schools...not 1 US school...I learnt my lesson...fool me twice shame on me. In 2007, I got my Canada PR
and well my MBA admission. I paid resident tuition fees, got loans from Banks as I was a PR. The plan worked picture perfect.
Interestingly when I was applying for my MBA in Canada, one friend of mine was preaching to me to do in US and not Canada....well guess what ...he got his a** handed over to him and lost his job and is back in India. He applied to US top schools and thankfully he didnt get admission. Overwise I dont know what would have happened.
I am in touch with Indian student in US B-schools like Harvard as well. Their life is living hell now with 20+ lakh loans in India with parent's home as collateral. Employers run away like seeing ghosts moment you mention H1B.

Thanks for devoting a whole paragraph to me.. but wasn't that the point to begin with. "Battering of members publicly or personally" What good does it do to the movement?
I rest my case....
heard you loud and clear,
and usually take complaints very well.
but when someone only complains and spends time undermining us and our efforts elsewhere and when they return only to take potshots...i reserve my right. you are actively harming this organization by your actions and it's not hidden to us, therefore you are retarding our goals- and those will benifit all 25,000 here- active, passive etc. not every person is creating value here and that is the fact. your attitude is childish, i will say it again. it's childish because your purpose is not to improve things in any way or help us achieve our goals but to prove some silly point about how you were treated in the past. but this is the last time i'm bothering, i want to move beyond this. some of us have better things to do than lurk around and wait to score personal points. you have already stated you have no wish to contribute further in any way. so be it.
also know that free speech is all well and good. but no organization will allow it's forums to be used to undermine it's objectives. try doing it on numbers usa or alipac and see how long you last.

Good News indeed, but to be frank it just doesnt excite me even a bit. After being stuck for over five years and getting nothing at the end, I reserve the right for myself to be skeptical and pessimistic!! :-( --Sorry
There are certainly anti-immigration groups like IEEE/US and others who will use every weapon at their disposal to sabotage legislations like SKIL BILL etc., but the reality is that US economy is increasingly becoming dependent on foreign-born skilled workers and by gradual exit of baby-boom generation out of economy this trend will accelerate.
I hope Congressman Senssenbrener doesnt dismiss the legislation. It is just unfair to link the immigration issues of Merit-Based Immigration Applicants to border security.
Please let us know what we could do to help the process.
Regards,

IS this OK?
Please help by clarifying...

I would like to share my story with other H4 hopefuls and immigration voice.
I came to this country 2 years back. I am well qualified and had an excellent job in Bangalore with more than 4 years of experience in HR. After coming here I have not been able to get an employer to sponsor H1B Visa mainly because my skills sets are not in high demand occupation like Computers/technology but in Human Resource Management. I passed the professional certifications in HR in USA within 6 months of landing here and did get a number of job offers but was unable to take them up because I do not have an EAD.
In fact even my old company in Bangalore where I worked offered me a position here in their office and job offer is still on -provided I have a employment authorization. They are not keen to sposor H1b visa as they consider it too much of a hassle for a non tech employee. Also with the visa cap there are many hurdles to get through to get the H1B visa. Meanwhile our LC is in the backlog center and we are unable to move forward. My husband has received MBA admissions in some top schools in USA. But he had to give it up because of the GC process which seems to have now come to a stand still. When people who has come here illegally (if the bill passes) can now work legally - we who has come here legally and has followed all the rules are not given a chance to contribute to the economy and better our quality of life.
we are not going to go back -our GC is in process - so why shouldnt we be given a change to work while we wait for years for the process to be through. I feel that I have already lost my most productive years where I could have steered my career to H4 Visa rules.
I request Immigration voice to work on the issue of H4 work authorization.

Everyone should have freedom of speech on a public forum.
Unless there are derogatory remarks directed towards a person or use of offensive language is a no-no, but then what is plain humor and what is offensive?
What is wrong with some one not agreeing to others? Only sheep walk in herds.
Disagreement should never be a reason to ban a person.

Hi,
I am from Jordan and I attended the rally. 4 of my friends "who are Jordanian and have their citizenships already" drove from Chicago to attend the rally, but they got lost in Baltimore. They wish all of us all the luck and they support all of us 100%:)
That have been said and as I mentioned on another threat, I know 10 people from India who work with me and promised to meet me there, but no one of them attended, and I called them before the rally at their offices and all of them were there. I am very disappointed of them.

You are right but unfortunately history has thought us that when it comes down to GC versus H1b everybody is willing to throw GC under the bus to get H1b provisions.
This current bill is no exception, h1 increased from 65,000 to 115000 with triggers to increse it to 185000, but no provisions for green cards.
a exclusive emendment with GC will be the only way out. nobody is offering such amendment and if somebody offers it might be ordered to lie on table.
I think industry and their senators alike will be happy with quota increases...waht they will try to strike out is the extra fees....($5000 now) and also the retrictions on recruitment / displacement policy, which will make H1B useless as it will take umpteen number of months to get an H1B approved.
This ammdt is still difficult to pass
BTW, I cannot find the text of this ammndt on Thomas.
