I think they came up wit 5K figure just to say F.. off in a gentle way...They never thought that we'll collect 5K and give them. I really think this should be sent out to media and immigration subcommittees, complaining we are paying hefty fees to live in the country on the contrary we are asked for this kind of money to get information which USCIS should have been publishing atleast quarterly...

There is no way for a bank to know when you leave. You might leave on vacation or for a break. As per US law you can come to US after a year break outside US. How does anyone could know whether you are on one month vacation or in one year vacation. I dont agree with this unless it is explained clearly.

We cannot judge at this point in time what the final bill is going to be like.
If the merit based system after passage of the bill seem more lucrative then many will re apply under this system and we come back to square one - i.e backlogs
We have to get out of the current problem which will solve a lot of problems.

Berry Appleman really sucks. Dont ever go there.
I gave all my signed I485/G28/I325/I765/I131/693/Photos forms by June 8th. They filed mine on June 27th. They reviewed it for 17 days.
They never attend email or calls. Hope mine gets accepted.
I don't think Berry Appleman is a good firm, they took 30 days for all people to prepare simple docs for I 485 which takes 2 hours for us to prepare and they never respond to calls and email.

Maybe it was the same woman - I went to DC embassy last year for passport renewal and the lady officer was rude and reckless. she started talking to me in hindi/hurdu, without any regard to whether or not i understood her language. I said stop - talk in english and she fumed at me! i told her i couldnt understand whatever language she was speaking but she refused to speak in english. i somehow gave my papers to her and she processed it. it was like dealing with some foreign embassy.
